Marriage counseling and relationship counseling

divorce advice

Relationship counseling varies in approach depending on the style adopted by the marriage counselor. The suitability of the approach is the determinant to the success of the marriage counseling session and therefore it is vital to ensure a suitable approach is chosen. A marriage counselor may choose different approaches to achieving reconciliation. These can range from private relationship counseling sessions, which is the most common and popular, to Group therapies and even remote counseling. Remote marriage counseling has only recently become popular due to realization that not all couples are able, or willing, to attend counseling. PEYMA's Relationship Counseling is one such example. PEYMA unique approach to remote counseling has successfully helped many couples facing marital and relationship crisis (please see PEYMA's testimonials for further information). PEYMA's approach is unique in that it is highly affordable, accurate and confidential in its approach. With regards to affordability, at just a fraction of what a single counseling session would cost the couple are able to discover the exact root cause of their behavioral disputes and how to over come them.

Traditional relationship counseling Vs. Remote counseling

The traditional approach to Relationship Counseling involves the couple attending a number of sessions facilitated by a marriage counselor. However, this is not always possible as there are couples with cultural, financial, geographical and even social restrictions that prevent them from attending therapy sessions. Remote counseling is designed specifically to target the category of people who fall into one of these categories of restriction. Before the mediation process in a behavioral conflict can commence, a counselor would have to first ascertain the behavioral model of each partner, and subsequently establishing the root cause of the relationship conflict. PEYMA's approach is similar except that a relationship questionnaire is used in establishing the behavioral model of the couple, which then helps a counselor to identify the root cause of any behavioral conflict, making it highly affordable, confidential, objective and accurate. Therefore couples are able to discover the root cause of their behavioral conflict without necessarily attending a single therapy session.

PEYMA's approach to relationship counseling

At the heart of PEYMA's approach to relationship counseling is a carefully developed online relationship questionnaire where couples are expected to complete for analysis. Once the relationship questionnaires are completed, the couple will then submit them for analysis. A relationship counselor will then be allocated to its analysis, and subsequently, a report is produced detailing why the couple are having behavioral conflicts and how they should over come them.

PEYMA's approach to relationship counseling is as follows:

  1. The couple complete PEYMA's online relationship questionnaire.
  2. Once PEYMA receives the questionnaires and the payment for their analysis, the questionnaires are then allocated to an experienced counselor who will then manually analyse them.
  3. The counselor will then ascertain the Behavioral Model of each partner.
  4. The counselor will then analyze the interaction between the couple to identify the root cause of any behavioral conflict, as well as how to over come them.
  5. A report is then produced highlighting what the couple need to do to reconcile any behavioral differences. This report is then emailed to the couple.

Managing expectations

The analysis of the relationship questionnaires provides the couple with a personalized report (a sample of which can be found on marriage counselor sample report) as to what they should do to reconcile any behavioral differences. The report will consist of:

  1. Each individual's current behavior in the relationship
The counselor will determine the behavioral model of each partner, highlighting: the behaviors associated with each partner and their attributes, the strengths associated with each behavioral model, the behaviors that must be kept in check.
  2. Counseling
Once the counselor allocated to the couple has determined the behavioral model of each partner, the subsequent phase of the analysis is to identify how these behavioral models interact and what the couples need to do to over come any behavioral conflicts. A sample report can be downloaded from marriage counselor sample report.
